Food Pantry Restock Assistant - This volunteer is working in a group setting with other volunteers to unload food deliveries, weigh products when necessary, organize pantry items in stock room and pantry room, organize fresh and frozen food items. Properly breakdown cardboard and garbage and put in receptacles. This volunteer needs to understand basic FIFO practices as well as food handling practices.
Waiting room check-in - This person is the first face that the clients see. This person is responsible for greeting clients and welcoming them in and offering them assistance. Set up a laptop and utilize Link2Feed to organize client information. They get everything ready for the day, signing in clients for food boxes, clothing closet, and produce and direct them through the process. Organize resource information and share with clients as applicable. Sanitize children’s toys and chairs and vacuum rooms when necessary.
Personal Shopper - A personal shopper is a volunteer who works on a one-on-one basis with the clients that come into the pantry. Theywill take the client through the pantry on a shopping-like experience directing the clients towards their options for food boxes and introduce them to the freezer room attendant.. They must have an application or updated information on file. Yearly Civil Rights training is required for this position as they will be privy to personal information and will have direct contact with the clients. Organize fresh produce, bread and customer boxes. Weigh food donations and assist with restocking before the pantry opens. Ensure all pantry areas are left clean and orderly before leaving.
Freezer Room Attendant - This person oversees the freezer room portion of the shopping. Review freezer inventory and prepare for days shift, clean up room, take out recycling and garbage. During the Shopping experience, they display and offer a variety of options for frozen vegetables and meat.
Carryout Assistant - Introduce yourself to the client, pull the food cart out to the loading area or personal vehicle and help load food items into the vehicle. Carry-out attendant helps out clients with taking the food boxes out to their vehicles. Thank the clients for coming and invite them back when they need. Return wagons to pantry after taking clients boxes out.
Driver - Meet at YCAP in a personal truck and/or COTH vehicle and trailer. Assist in picking up pallets of this week’s order. Drive back to HOTH and assist with unloading and organizing inventory. This person has passed a background and driving history check and is listed as a driver in the HOTH system. Issued a key, or a shared key to access the HOTH truck. Responsible for relaying pertinent information regarding the condition of the truck. Use the truck for firewood transportation for the Wood Program.
Clothing Closet Assistant - Assist with gathering donations from shed, sort through donations by type (infant, children's, men's, women's, etc.), put clothing on hangers and place on racks in clothing closet, organize racks, pull empty hangers, clean up of area. During pantry open hours assist clients with clothing, ensure they have a clothing slip and assist with filling out as needed.
Wood Lot Attendant - Assist with sorting, splitting, and stacking of firewood. Help coordinator with collection of new wood donations, assist customers with purchased wood, and assist in delivery of purchased wood.
