This is Operation Backpack's eighth year of providing children from under resourced families, new backpacks filled with school supplies. Our goal this year is to help 750 children in our local school district. This event is made possible by the partnership of churches, service organizations, businesses and corporations in our McMinnville community. We greatly appreciate cash donations, school supplies and the many volunteers that make this annual event possible.
Operation Backpack impacts our community with resources and compassion in a fun-filled atmosphere. Our goal this year is to provide backpacks and school supplies for 750 children. This means we will be serving 2000 + people that day as siblings and parents accompany their children. Children pick out their own backpack receive supplies appropriate to their grade, play games and interact with their family and other members of our community.
Operation Backpack will take place Saturday, August 18, 2012. The day of the event is a “Back to School” party where children pick out their own backpack and fill them with school supplies appropriate to their grade level. It is also gives children the opportunity to interact with their families and volunteers from our community in a fun filled atmosphere.
*REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED* Please check our website again in June for more information about how to register your child for this fun event held at Newby Elementary School.
