This interview was back in November. In case you missed it on our Facebook page, here it is for you to view again.
Remember your donations matter. Every $1 donated helps us serve your community.
The Butterfly Effect is a movie that came out in 2004, about how small acts can have unforeseen
consequences over time
Every day we have the privilege to make an impact on those we encounter during the course of
our ordinary day. You can choose to be an everyday hero. We ignite hope when we perform even the most mundane acts.
Last Saturday night I had the rare opportunity to make it to downtown Portland in the evening,
which actually means going to Voodoo Donuts. As I waited outside for my friend with my box of
donuts, I met Chris, a homeless man from New York. I could have ignored him, I am sure he is used to that, but this picture came to mind.
I prayed with Chris and offered him my change. I called him by name, and told him I cared about
I don’t think I will ever see Chris again, but I know that one small act helped ignite hope for him.
We ignite hope when you donate $1 today.
We ignite hope when you serve with us at the Food Pantry
We ignite hope when you join us by playing music, taking photos or serving food during our
Piecing Community Together dinners.
We ignite hope when you share this post.
We ignite hope by being an everyday hero and saying hello to a stranger.
Help us ignite hope.
To help you ignite hope within, Piecing Community Together was created.
To allow you to tell your story. To be heard... to be recognized... to make a difference.
The Second Thursday of every month, we gather as a community at the Cooperative Ministries Church from 5pm-7pm, to help the single or the overworked parent feed their children. To allow seniors to hear the sound of children laughing. To share a meal together. To laugh, to cry, to dream big dreams of a community that serves and cares for one another.
Each Second Thursday we need you.
We ignite hope when you join us to create art in music, photography, videography.
We ignite hope when you help others tell their story on a cardboard sign, on canvas, in print.
We ignite hope when you help us set up chairs or when we cook a meal together.
We ignite hope when you donate $5 so we can feed one more person, and buy necessary art supplies.
Help us to ignite hope.
You are not alone. We need you. We want you. We value what you have to offer. I know you think it isn't much, but we want to tell you that you are exactly what we have been looking for.
The small pieces to our puzzle are what make the BIG picture. You are the missing piece.
We are here. There are other people who see the world the same way you do. Come and join us
We want to come along side you and build a community and a legacy that we can share for generations.
Let us dream BIG, BOLD and life changing dreams together.
What are you hoping to see in your community? Whatever it is, we want to hear it,
Remember you are needed, and have been created for great purpose.
Tonight we have a great community building event that we want you to be part of.
From 5pm-7pm at the CoOp we are having our Piecing Community Together dinner.
You are the missing piece to this event. So join us and share your story and eat great food with us.
Gardening. That is the answer to the title question.
Truth be told, I am not a gardener. I do admire and enjoy the fresh produce that gardens provide.
With spring right around the corner, it is time to start thinking about how you will help support your Hope on the Hill community garden.
Hope on the Hill offers garden plots to the community. We offer you the opportunity to produce your own fresh, and nutritional food. While working along side your neighbor, developing community spirit and leadership.
Our community garden provide access to nutritionally rich foods that may otherwise be unavailable to low-income families and individuals.
Every week HOTH's food pantry is providing food security and helping alleviate hunger in our community.
We hope that you will help us support feeding those in need while helping you supplement your household food with fresh, nutritional and locally grown produce.
If you want more info on how you can help at the food pantry or if you are interested in a garden plot. Please contact us today.
Everyday we tell ourselves and those around us stories. How this person, this organization or this event impacted us. Some stories are full of pain and hurt. Others are full of hope, love and inspiration.
We want to hear your story. How has Hope on the Hill ignited hope in you, in your family, in your community, in your home.
Let us know. We want to to help you create a story full of hope, courage and love.
"When we own our stories, we get to write a brave new ending." Brene Brown
Today was my first back at the Food Pantry after being sick earlier this week. The image that greeted me as I came in to drop off our recent donation from the Adventist Christian School was this:
A few months ago this clothing closet was only a small dream in my head. Last week it was small corner of a room. Now I have this a expanding beautiful closet, that represents the growing impact we are having at Hope on The Hill in igniting hope in others.
Each item has been donated in an collaborative effort by volunteers and recipients to provide hope to those that come to us in need.
Thank you for allowing our dream to grow and expand. We hope that you will join us in our continuous effort to ignite hope in Yamhill County.
